Sui Gas Bill Calculator Pakistan

Estimate your monthly Sui gas bill in seconds. This free calculator works for both SNGPL and SSGC domestic consumers — the two companies follow the same domestic tariff, notified by OGRA with effect from 1 July 2025. Enter your meter readings or your total monthly use, choose your consumer category, and get an instant estimate with a full breakdown. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is stored or sent anywhere.

How do you want to enter your usage?
1 hm³ = 1,000 m³. The tool converts the difference for you.
Consumer category Protected: average winter (Nov–Feb) use at or below 0.9 hm³ per month.
Copy the GCV printed on your gas bill. 990 is a typical value.

How your gas bill is calculated

Your gas meter measures volume in cubic metres (m³). For billing, the volume is converted to MMBTU (million British thermal units) using the GCV — the gross calorific value printed on your bill:

MMBTU = hm³ × GCV ÷ 281.7385, where 1 hm³ = 1,000 m³. At a typical GCV of 990, one hm³ is about 3.51 MMBTU. The GCV changes slightly from bill to bill, so copy the exact figure from your own bill for the closest estimate.

The energy charge then depends on your slab and your category. Domestic billing uses a one-preceding-slab benefit: the part of your monthly use that falls within the preceding slab’s limit is charged at that slab’s lower rate, and only the remainder is charged at your own slab’s rate. Above 4.0 hm³ there is no preceding-slab benefit — the whole month’s use is charged at Rs 4,200 per MMBTU. Note this is not fully marginal: only one preceding slab’s rate is applied, not every lower slab.

On top of the energy charge, every domestic bill adds a fixed charge (Rs 600 per month for protected consumers; Rs 1,500 per month for non-protected consumers using up to 1.5 hm³, or Rs 3,000 above 1.5 hm³), meter rent of Rs 40, and GST at 18% charged on the energy charge plus the fixed charge.

Protected category

Monthly useRate (Rs per MMBTU)
Up to 0.25 hm³200
Up to 0.50 hm³250
Up to 0.60 hm³300
Up to 0.90 hm³350

Fixed charge: Rs 600 per month. Meter rent: Rs 40.

Non-protected category

Monthly useRate (Rs per MMBTU)
Up to 0.25 hm³500
Up to 0.60 hm³850
Up to 1.00 hm³1,250
Up to 1.50 hm³1,450
Up to 2.00 hm³1,900
Up to 3.00 hm³3,300
Up to 4.00 hm³3,800
Above 4.00 hm³4,200

Fixed charge: Rs 1,500 per month up to 1.5 hm³; Rs 3,000 per month above 1.5 hm³. Meter rent: Rs 40.

Worked example

A non-protected household used 1.20 hm³ in a month — for example, meter readings of 5,000 m³ and 6,200 m³, a difference of 1,200 m³, which is 1.20 hm³. The GCV on the bill is 990.

  • MMBTU = 1.20 × 990 ÷ 281.7385 = 4.22 MMBTU.
  • 1.20 hm³ falls in the “up to 1.50 hm³” slab (Rs 1,450 per MMBTU). With the one-preceding-slab benefit, the first 1.00 hm³ is charged at Rs 1,250 and the remaining 0.20 hm³ at Rs 1,450.
  • Energy charge = (1.00 × 990 ÷ 281.7385 × 1,250) + (0.20 × 990 ÷ 281.7385 × 1,450) = Rs 4,392.37 + Rs 1,019.03 = Rs 5,411.40.
  • Fixed charge (non-protected, up to 1.5 hm³) = Rs 1,500.00. Meter rent = Rs 40.00.
  • GST = 18% × (5,411.40 + 1,500.00) = 18% × 6,911.40 = Rs 1,244.05.
  • Estimated total = 5,411.40 + 1,500.00 + 40.00 + 1,244.05 = Rs 8,195.45.

Enter 1.20 hm³ (or readings 5,000 and 6,200), non-protected, and GCV 990 in the calculator above and you will get exactly this breakdown.

Frequently asked questions

What is a protected gas consumer?

A domestic consumer whose average use over the last four winter months (November to February) was at or below 0.9 hm³ (90 m³) per month. Protected consumers pay lower slab rates and a lower fixed charge. Your winter use decides your protected status for the following year, so heavy winter use can move you into the non-protected category.

Does this calculator work for both SNGPL and SSGC?

Yes. SNGPL and SSGC follow the same domestic schedule under OGRA’s notification dated 29 June 2025, effective 1 July 2025. The calculator applies that schedule for both companies.

What GCV should I enter?

Copy the GCV printed on your gas bill — it is listed near the meter readings and changes slightly each month. The calculator defaults to 990, a typical value, but your bill’s exact GCV gives the closest estimate.

Why is my actual bill slightly different from the estimate?

The official bill uses the exact GCV and pressure factor for your billing cycle, the exact number of days billed, and any arrears, adjustments or late-payment surcharges. This calculator estimates the standard monthly charges only.

Please note: estimate only

This calculator gives an estimate only — it is not your bill. Your official SNGPL or SSGC bill is final. SNGPL and SSGC follow the same domestic schedule. Your winter (November to February) use affects your protected status for the following year. If your bill looks wrong, contact your gas company with your consumer number.
