How to use this gold value calculator
- Enter the weight and choose its unit – tola, masha, ratti or gram.
- Choose the karat – 24K, 22K, 21K or 18K.
- Check the per-tola Sarafa rate. It is prefilled with the rate fetched today (see the stamp above), and you can overwrite it with your local sarafa market’s rate.
- Press Calculate value. The result shows the estimated rupee value with a full step-by-step breakdown.
Worked example: at a per-tola rate of Rs 400,000
- One tola of 24K gold = Rs 400,000 (the per-tola Sarafa rate is the 24K rate).
- One tola of 22K gold = Rs 400,000 x 0.916 = Rs 366,400.
- 5 grams of 22K = 5 x (400,000 / 11.6638) x 0.916 = Rs 157,067 – the tool’s exact computed figure.
To check: set the rate field above to 400000 and enter each weight – you will get the same answers.
Conversions, purity and the formula
- 1 tola = 11.6638 grams = 12 masha = 96 ratti
- 1 masha = 0.9720 g
- 1 ratti = 0.1215 g
- 24K = 99.9% pure; 22K = 91.6%; 21K = 87.5%; 18K = 75%
Formula: value = weight in grams x (per-tola rate / 11.6638) x karat fraction. 24K is quoted at 99.9% purity; the per-tola Sarafa rate is the market rate for 24K gold, so this calculator treats it as the full 24K value and scales other karats from it (22K at 0.916, 21K at 0.875, 18K at 0.75).
Frequently asked questions
What gold rate does this calculator use?
Rs 429,136 per tola, from The Pakistan Observer, NationPulse and PKRevenue, citing rates shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), published 06 Nov 2026. The rate was fetched on 07 Nov 2026 at 12:20am PKT. The rate field is editable – enter today’s rate from your local sarafa market if it has moved.
Why is the shop’s offer lower than the calculator’s figure?
Making charges, tax and the shop’s spread are NOT included in this calculator’s figure, so the shop’s offer will differ. Always get a written quote from the jeweller.
What is the difference between 24K, 22K, 21K and 18K gold?
The karat measures purity: 24K is 99.9% pure gold, 22K is 91.6%, 21K is 87.5% and 18K is 75%. Jewellery in Pakistan is commonly 22K or 21K, so it is worth less per gram than pure 24K gold.
Is a tola always 11.6638 grams?
This calculator uses the standard 11.6638 g tola. A 12.5 g “market tola” variant exists in some places – if your jeweller uses it, convert your weight to grams first and enter it as grams.
