Worked example

Family of five, paying by wheat (2026 rate): 5 people × Rs 300 = Rs 1,500 total Fitrana.

Family of four, paying by dates (2026 rate): 4 people × Rs 1,600 = Rs 6,400 total Fitrana.

Using current market prices: if the per-person amount you follow is Rs 350 and your family has 6 members, enter 350 in the “own per-person amount” box: 6 × Rs 350 = Rs 2,100.

What is Fitrana?

Fitrana, also called Sadqa-e-Fitr or Zakat al-Fitr, is the charity paid by Muslims at the end of Ramadan, before the Eid al-Fitr prayer. It is paid for every member of the household, including children, so that people who have less can also share in the Eid. The amount is based on staple foods — wheat, barley, dates, raisins and similar items — and the Council of Islamic Ideology in Pakistan announces a cash equivalent per person each year.

Who pays Fitrana, and when?

  • Who pays: the head of the household usually pays for the whole family, including children. The exact obligation depends on a person’s means — if you are unsure whether Fitrana is due from you, ask a local scholar.
  • When: Fitrana should be paid before the Eid al-Fitr prayer. It can be paid during Ramadan so that it reaches people in time for Eid.
  • Who receives it: it is given to people in need, in the same way as other charity for the poor. It is not given to the same people Zakat cannot be given to — if you are unsure, ask a local scholar or a trusted charity.
  • Which item to choose: wheat is the most commonly used amount in Pakistan. People who can afford more may choose a higher item, such as dates. The choice is yours; the calculator works with any of the listed items.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Fitrana rate for 2027 in Pakistan?

The 2027 Fitrana rate has not been announced yet. The Council of Islamic Ideology normally announces it in February, shortly before Ramadan. This page will be updated when the announcement is made. Until then, use the 2026 rates only as a reference, or calculate from current market prices with your own per-person amount.

How much Fitrana is due for a family of five?

It depends on the item you choose. At the 2026 wheat rate of Rs 300 per person, a family of five pays 5 × Rs 300 = Rs 1,500. At the 2026 dates rate, the same family pays 5 × Rs 1,600 = Rs 8,000. Enter your family size in the calculator above to work out your total.

Do I pay Fitrana for children?

Yes — Fitrana is normally paid for every member of the household, including children, by the head of the family. Include children when you enter the number of family members.

When should Fitrana be paid?

Before the Eid al-Fitr prayer, and it can be paid at any time during Ramadan. Paying early in Ramadan helps it reach people before Eid.

Can I pay a different amount for different family members?

The usual practice is to pay the same per-person amount for the whole family. If different members are paying separately, each can work out their own amount with this calculator.

Is the 2026 rate the same as the 2027 rate?

No — the 2026 rates are shown on this page for reference only. The 2027 rate will be announced separately by the Council of Islamic Ideology, expected in February 2027, and may be different.
