How to calculate gold price in Pakistan is simple once you know the three things that matter: the current per-tola rate, the weight of your gold, and its karat purity. In Pakistan, gold is bought and sold by the tola, and the price is quoted as a per-tola Sarafa rate. This guide explains each step, with a worked example, so you can check any piece of gold yourself. What the per-tola Sarafa rate means
Sarafa bazaars across Pakistan quote gold per tola, and the quoted rate is the price of 24-karat (pure) gold unless the jeweller says otherwise. The rate moves daily, so always use the current figure. The rate shown on our calculator page is Rs 4,29,136 per tola, from The Pakistan Observer, NationPulse and PKRevenue, citing rates shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), published 06 Nov 2026 and fetched 07 Nov 2026 at 12:20am PKT. Because the rate moves daily, the calculator page carries the current figure — check it there before you buy or sell.
Tola, masha, ratti and gram conversions
Jewellers in Pakistan weigh gold in tola, masha and ratti, while the formula works in grams. Convert the weight to grams first:
- 1 tola = 11.6638 grams = 12 masha = 96 ratti
- 1 masha = 0.9720 grams
- 1 ratti = 0.1215 grams
So a 2-tola bangle weighs 23.3276 grams, and a 6-masha chain weighs 5.832 grams. One caution from the calculator page: a 12.5 g “market tola” variant exists in some places — if your jeweller uses it, convert your weight to grams using that figure instead.
Karat purity: 24K, 22K, 21K and 18K
The karat tells you how much of the piece is pure gold. Only the pure-gold part is valued at the per-tola rate:
- 24K = 99.9% pure gold
- 22K = 91.6% pure gold
- 21K = 87.5% pure gold
- 18K = 75% pure gold
Turn the percentage into a fraction for the formula: 22K is 0.916, 21K is 0.875 and 18K is 0.75. A piece stamped 22K is therefore worth 91.6% of the same weight in 24K gold.
How to calculate gold price in Pakistan: the formula
value = weight in grams × (per-tola rate ÷ 11.6638) × karat fraction
In three steps: first convert the weight to grams; then divide the per-tola rate by 11.6638 to get the per-gram 24K rate; then multiply by the karat fraction. At a per-tola rate of Rs 4,29,136, the per-gram 24K rate is Rs 36,792.13 — that figure comes straight from the calculator page.
Worked example
Take a per-tola rate of Rs 400,000. These are the calculator page’s own worked figures, verified on the live calculator:
- One tola of 22K gold = Rs 400,000 × 0.916 = Rs 366,400.
- 5 grams of 22K gold = 5 × (400,000 ÷ 11.6638) × 0.916 = Rs 157,067.
At the rate shown on the calculator page today — Rs 4,29,136 per tola — one tola of 22K gold is worth Rs 3,93,089, again checked on the live calculator. Try your own weight and karat on the Gold Value Calculator Pakistan to get the same breakdown for your gold.
Why a shop’s offer is lower than your calculation
The formula gives the value of the pure gold only. A shop’s offer will be lower because making charges, tax and the shop’s spread are not included in the figure. That gap is normal — but before you accept an offer, ask the shop to state the rate, weight and karat it used, and compare offers from more than one jeweller.
Please note: an estimate, not a shop quote
This is an estimate only. The result is a guide to your gold’s intrinsic value at the stated Sarafa rate, not a buying or selling price. Rates move daily, so always use the current rate shown on the Gold Value Calculator Pakistan page.
